Hi there,
I am converting some old films from video_ts to mpeg in order to put them onto youtube. However, some of them have a large black box with :
"TCR (whatever the timecode is) PLAY LOCK"
on the screen. The problem is, part of the film is subtitled and this black box blocks out the subtitles.
In the folder there are Video_ts files and Video_RM files. I was wondering if there is anyway of locating and removing the source of this black box!?
Thanks
Dan

You can try various logo removal filters for vdub such as logo-away. However, you can not totally remove a solid box as these filters rely on information on either side of the logo to fill in the screen. In such circumstances you will at best simply blur the box. The sub-titles can not be restored in such circumstances as they are overridden by the box.
Other removal methods involve using blur filters such as gausian blur in a nle such as Vegas.
