Hello all,
I'm a bit new at this, so here's a chance to show off your stuff. I'm hoping to remove a horizontal tear that appears for about 30 seconds on a VHS tape I have, prior to capturing. (Is it still considered tearing if it's not at the very top or bottom of the screen?) The tape is 20 years old and I believe recorded at SP speed. The tear appears about 1/3 down from the top of the screen and fades in and out at the same points everytime it's played back. I'm running a JVC 9911 through an AVT-8710 and have tried some of the different player settings to try to remove it - to no avail. I assume it's there due to a bit of tape damage.
I'm just looking for some suggestions for determining the actual cause and how to eliminate/minimize its appearance. I've read here many times that the Panasonic DMR-ES10 (which I don't have) removes tearing/flagging, but maybe what I have doesn't sound like a tearing issue to you. I can try to provide a sample later.
Thanks!
