    Hey there,

I've traded in some games and used the buy 2 get 1 free used game deal at gamestop to pick up some more games. I got Final Fantasy 13 for the ps3 and am impressed by it so far (only an hour in right now still in the first chapter).

Is this a fully standalone title? Does this fall back on any previous title? Does the background story get fleshed out as the game progesses?

If so I'll gladly wait for the story to unfold. I'd just to hate to find out these characters have a background in some direct to video cgi movie or a previous game.

    -------

Also would I benefit from getting the strategy guide for this? I sort of get into the collection addiction from time to time and figure that would help if I decide to go all in on the game.

The combat is pretty good. I still have Tales of Vesperia for the 360 to finish from the other year - Uncharted 1 and 2 and Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood got in the way . I also picked up Red Dead Redemption and Star Ocean the last hope (360) on the same 2+1 deal.

Any other time sapping games like these I should consider? What about Dragon Age Origins?

FYI I did try to get into Mass Effect 1 recently with a used copy I got cheap. However it just didn't seem to get me hooked. So don't suggest ME2. Thanks.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  2. Every Final Fantasy game is independent from the previous one (except X and X-2)

    Dragon Age Origins is great.

    Fable 2 and 3.

I hated Mass effect 1, but loved Mass Effect 2 (I'm looking forward to #3)

Did you play Dead Space?... awesome game!. #2 coming out in January, also waiting for that one.

Thanks Medico Brujo for the Final Fantasy info. I'm glad it will fill out the story in the game I have and not have to backtrack at all.

I have fable 2 but haven't gotten back to it yet.

I just picked up dragon age origins today - I traded in Assassins Creed Brotherhood after finishing the story and all the side missions. I got a 75% completion and decided not to get into the multiplayer.

I haven't done Dead Space. Is that mostly a horror genre type game? I am not really into horror if it is. So I am not into Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising either.

For the 2 for 1 deals today I picked up the aforementioned Dragon Age origins, Halo Wars, and Eternal Sonata for the PS3. I figure I have so many long play games now that I should be set for 2011.

I'm sure there'll be some sleeper hit to come out next year that I just have to have.

But I think since I still haven't completed Zelda Twilight Princess on the Wii nor New Super Mario Wii nor Super Mario Galaxy 1 I think I'm set for now.

Like I said I still have Tales of Vesperia to conquer. I think I am socked in for the winter at least. Not to mention any donwloadable games I might look into. Who knows LIMBO might be in my future......

just thought I'd bump this to pass on the word that gamestop has strategy guides 50% off this week. It might help some of us finish those games that have been left incomplete

    Happy Gaming
