I am planning to buy Samsung 8000 46" LED 3DTV, plus Samsung BD6900 Blueray Player.
I am new to this. I notice the TV come with SRS surround sound.
Do I need to get a 5.1 home theater system?

Implementations of SRS surround sound vary greatly.
Set everything up and listen to it. Listen to your ears and not online reviews. If you are not happy, then invest in a 5.1 system.Last edited by Vidd; 29th Dec 2010 at 11:05.

monkis - Note that Samsung players are among the most difficult in the world to unlock for region free play. If you don't care about that or don't know what that even means then you can ignore my post. But we get an awful lot of posts from people who buy first and THEN try to find out if their players can be made region free or not and I wanted to head that off.

Personally I couldn't live without surround sound.
True enough I don't always use it and usually only for movies. I hardly ever watch tv with it even though I do have cable hdtv programming. And I rarely use it for gaming even though I have both a 360 and a ps3.
BUT it just adds that extra dimension that really draws you into a movie. Especially action flicks. Nothing like having the room shake during explosions and stuff like that.
Even your most inexpensive surround soudn setups add enough punch to give you that added dimension.
To me its actually more important than 3d. But since you are going the 3d route you really should consider 5.1 to give you the total package.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
