Hi. I've ripped DVDs using DVD2SVCD before, but I've now come across a problem. Specifically Toy Story 2 and Proof of Life (both NTSC,30fps) being the ones I've tried, once they're burnt to SVCD and I play them in my DVD player (Shinco-868), they are interlaced (lines across the picture when they move etc). I'm assuming therefore that all DVDs I've ripped so far have been PAL, and the problem lies with them being NTSC?

I've tried the "Convert NTSC > PAL" switch, with deinterlacing, which deinterlaces the movie, but it slows the speed of the audio down, which I presume is to sync the mouths to the audiom, but so the voices don't sound right (they're deeper), which is obviously no good to me

I'm tearing my hair out here...bit of a newbie to DVD ripping, but not completely dull....any help gratefully received!!!

  2. N,

Is your tv ntsc or pal? Can your dvd player played both formats?
If you can play ntsc, try encoding without the "Convert NTSC > PAL" switch. Leave it off, but turn on Deinterlacing.
I did a DisNey dvd, with Deinterlace on, and it worked the second time with audio at 128, fit on one cdr too, svcd 480x480.

player can output NTSC/PAL, as can the TV.

What I can't understand is why the TV is displaying interlacing? I thought interlacing was only visible on a computer monitor?

I'll give it a go without the NTSC>PAL option with deinterlace on, trying both SmartDeinterlace and Blendfields, assuming the others won't work because the video isn't pal so it won't make a difference (?)

Will let you know how that goes, and thanks for the suggestions
