I have a Philips DVP3160 dvd player with divx and front USB, it plays all my avi files with no problem however when subs are activated they appear with this gray shade background wich is a little anoying, it does this when files are played both through disc and USB, i usually download the subs in .srt files and i only change the file extension to .sub so the player will recognize it.
Do i have to use a srt to sub converter or does anyone have any idea of how to solve this![]()
Thanks, all answers that might help resolve this matter are highly appreciated.

Text srt and sub files has no properties for shadows and such so if you want to change that it must be a setting in your dvd player.

You might be able to find hacked firmware the renders SRT subs with transparent backgrounds.
