  1. I have no Bluerayburner yet so I have to make a DVD from my HDV-films. I usually edit these films in HD-format in Vegas.
I have note been very satisfied with the DVD-quality. I have now discovered the reason is that I should not use the HD-file for burning a DVD. It is better to make a separate AVI-file in SD-format and then use this file for the DVD.
Of course I could make the AVI-file in SD-format directly from the camera but then I would have no edited HD-file for future use.

  2. when you're done editing the HDV project, render to dvd compliant mpeg-2 and ac-3 audio. then use those in an authoring program to make menus, chapters and convert it all to vobs, bups, and ifos.

    no avi files required.

  3. Thankyou, I can see there are some alternatives in vegas for mpeg2-DVD. I will try those.

which programs do you suggest using? I too am facing the same dilemma, no blu-ray burner or player yet, so I have to rely on my dvd burner and player for now. I am just trying to get a decent end result out of this HD video.
