  1. Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck playing vcds on this model dvd player. I know in the compatability list on this site, and by reading several comments on the player, most peopel seem to be able to play vcds pretty easily on the sucker. Unfortunately I have still been unable to get one to play. I've tried different types of cdr media, different vcds etc and nothing I do seems to make it play anything. When I pop in a vcd it loads it up and reconizes it as a vcd. If I hit play it attempts to do the whole "playback control" deal and blinks pbc on the lcd screen, but then never loads anything up. If I try to bypass this by directly selecting a track/chapter via the keypad of teh remote it shows the first track and then lists - -:- - as the time for said track and does nothing else. Just wondering if someone else who owns this player can play vcds and if so, how in the hell did they get the sucker to do so. Thanks much, any info would be greatly appreciated!!

  2. hi there BHOSK. i own the XV-S60BK and i believe its the same, except yours is the gold model. i have absolutely ZERO problems playing (s)vcds on this badboy! i play vcd compliants and vbr svcds.

your problem might lie within your software... what encoder and/or author software do you presently use? what kinda cdr(w) do ya use?

it is also a rare occurance when you might find out it is actually your dvd player. try and exchange it.

    good luck!
