  1. We recently purchased this Canon Vixia HF R10 HD camcorder, and for as much as I was excited to get an HD camera for $299 from best buy, I think I was equally disappointed in the quality of the videos end result. Now I am not saying that some of it was not due to user error, but, I figured if something is shot in 1920 x 1080, you should end up with a fairly decent video on a disk. Well this is where I guess I should say, dvd, not blu-ray. I presently don't own a blu-ray burner, and a blu-ray player, so I have to make do for the time being with a dvd burner and player. I am just trying to find the best software for capturing, converting, editing, and burning. I used the software that came with the camera to capture the video, Aiseesoft Total Video Converter to convert it to an mpg4, (which was probably my first mistake),then Roxio Creator 2011 to burn it to a dvd. Well let me tell you, I think it looked awful! The colors on the video appeared to look all washed out, for the lack of a better way to explain it. The video that was shot was of my sons choir concert, with them wearing black and orange robes. The black after I was done with the video no longer was black, but some faded out looking color, the flesh tones were bad too. So if anyone can tell me what else I might have done wrong, or how I can still try and salvage what I can with this video, I would be thrilled!

i'm not sure why they record at 1920x1080 with that cam. the sensor is too small - Video: Approx. 1.56 Megapixels (1664 x 936).

but what i'd do is transfer the video off the cam over the usb cable directly to your hard drive, and use something like multiavchd to turn it into avchd on dvdr. shouldn't be too much loss of video quality from what is recorded.

or possible try going to regular dvd with avstodvd.

what ever you make, use imgburn to create the actual dvds.

  3. thank you for the quick response! I will give what you said a shot and see how it goes. I have used imgburn before, but not the other two programs you suggested. I will post back my results. thanks again!
