How is it possible to upscale and convert a file from a DVD source to that of a higher resolution than DVD specifications.

If a file has a resolution: 864 x 400 but came for a DVD source, would you consider this a BDRip, BDRip or DVDRip.

  2. It would most likely have come from a DVD with the black bars cropped away and resized to keep the aspect ratio. However, since that's a ratio of 2.16:1, and since I know of no movies remotely close to that ratio, I might question the encoder's skills.

By cropping and resizing. No magic there since it's no longer a DVD.
