  1. Hi

I've just recently heard about upscaling DVD players and as i have a large DVD collection i thought i might buy one to go along with my new HD TV.

However my existing DVD player is a few years old now and i have an analog 5.1 surround sound system. However all the upscaling DVD players seem to have DTS(Which i know nothing about) and not the 5.1 analog sockets.

So does anyone know of an upscaling player that does have the old 5.1 sockets or can someone please explain how i make my 5.1 system work with a DTS socket?

    Thanx

DTS is an audio format, not a connection type. To hear DTS audio you need an amplifier with a DTS decoder built-in.

Most current players will have either an optical or coaxial audio connection to pass the audio through to the amplifier as digital stream, so that the amplifier can do the decoding and produce the sound.

If your amplifier doesn't have any native decoding capabilities and can only take an analogue input then it may be time to upgrade, as few, if any, current players support 5.1 analogue output any more.
