    if I want to download software such as ffdshow, should I chose "author site" or "direct link" (probably not "mirror")?. What's the difference?

    Author site takes you to the site and direct link immediately downloads the program? I just installed ffdshow prog this morning using direct link.

    The author site may also contain documentation that you might find help and possibly other versions of the program (older versions, versions for operating systems other than Windows, and so on).
