Or at least, I hope it is. I am trying to open an avi file in Virtualdub to be cut, but keep coming up with an error message, namely that the decompressor for high-speed MPEG-4 V2 cannot be found. I read in the readme file that Vdub needs a decompressor for avi files, so is that the problem I am having? (I also ran the file through DivFix, since it was unfinished) Thnx to anyone who can help me out.

The AVI has been made with The "MS Mpeg 2 V2 codec", you need to install that codec before you can edit any of those type of movies.
Decompressor, compressor are terms used to describe the process of unpacking the movie or compressing the movie.
Think of it as a ZIP file, you need Winzip to decompress it ?
So you need the MS Codec installed to use V1,2 and 3
Search Grokster/Kazza for "Mpeg4 Codec.exe"
