  1. I recently acquired a Canon T2i for photography and became pretty interested in its HD video capabilities. However, when trying to edit videos from the camera in a program like After Effects or Sony Vegas (I tested them with free trials) I run into problems.

Both programs can run smoothly during the editing process without issue, but upon rendering I will usually get an error. After Effects will crash, and Vegas informs me that I'm low on memory. I understand that my current rig is probably underpowered for editing with these programs. My question to you is, what should I do to correct this problem? I'm interested in producing good, HD quality videos, with editing things like color grading and such (no 3d effects or anything like that).

I figured maybe I could add 4 more gigs of RAM, or maybe upgrade my processor? I'm not sure which would help with my editing problem. I'm looking for the most economical option. I just wanted to ask here before I committed to spending money on new hardware that might not solve the problem.

    Current hardware:
    Windows 7 64 bit
    4GB RAM
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    750GB Harddrive

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I appreciate any advice you can give me.

Your current hardware is not the issue. But you definitely have a "system resources" issue.

Try shutting down all unnecessary applications, virus scan etc. Check your hard drive(s). Also consider if spyware or malware is or has caused something.

I'm not too familiar with Win7, but in the older days a corrupted page file might cause this kind of thing.

A "Low Memory" warning usually comes from too many TSR's.
