I cannot grasp how to utilise the info from one of these files. I want to change a colour Mpeg clip to black and white. I was using Video Pad editor which suggests you get a free plug in which comes in a winrar compressed file, but how do I import it and get it to work in the workspace ? I mainly use Windows Movie Maker whilst I learn as it is simple and available, and really I would like to convert the clips in this program, but I don't think it's possible....unless someone knows different. Thanks

You ever heard of zip files? WinRar is like WinZip. You have to unrar the file to get what you need just like you have to unzip a zip archive to get the file(s) out of it. The free 7-Zip program can also extract from rar archives.

When you open the zip it asks where you want to extract the file to. Do I extract directly into video pad editor, program files, desktop ?

If I use 7zip, I usually extract to a folder with the same name. It's a option on the list. Most times within the extracted folder there will be a text file telling you how to install. The file may be a plugin. Maybe look in the Video Pad program folder for a Plugin folder and see if that's where it goes.
