I am having trouble trying to figure out how to use 7 zip to (unpack?) my RAR files 0-93 and how to create a playable video. I have downloaded 7 zip and it seems like a good program it's just that I am still wet behind the ears when it comes to video tech. I have looked on this site as well as some others to try to find a guide to figure this one out. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks....Crowheart

Ok got you there. It seems like the very last file according to the test on 7-zip is broken. Is there a way to repair?
Thanks....Crowheart -
Well....
You asked.... he answered.....
You can't make what is not there magically appear...
Sometimes one part might get corrupted during DL.... if you don't delete anything and start the DL again sometimes it will just get the part that is messed up....
Other times it was corrupted from the numbskull who thought it would be better to break something up into 30 rar files
In that case you are usually screwed unless the guy redoes the one file that is messed up and reuploads it. -
Ok. What about a parity program? To fix the file? Just asking...
Thanks...Crowheart -
Oh boy now I get it. Thanks...I wil not be using that again.

If it has a PAR file included, go ahead and try it. You may need a program like QuickPar to decipher and use them. Or you might luck out and be able to extract most of the file. I've done that occasionally with WinRAR by using the 'Repair archives' or 'Extract without confirmation'. I don't know if the freeware 7-zip has similar options.
But, as mentioned, the best course is to re-download the file and hope you pick up the missing part.
There seems to be less reasons to use RAR files these days with the many high speed connections available out there. Most people on dial-up would spend several days or much more to download a large video file. And with digital video, it only takes one small error to damage the file.Blame the uploaders for all that.

I will attempt to repair, but not attempt to get this DL again. Thanks for the help....

Now 7-zip is cool!!!!!!
When compressing a file to send to a friend, use winrar.... maybe a MB or two diff...
Same with winzip...... now i crushed down a 130mb file to 25mb with 7-zip!!!!! and i've even seen 3-4gb files crushed down to 800mb with 7-zip!!!!!
Unpacked they were the full 3-4gb and completely intact!!!!!!!
Now that's what i call compression 8)
And you can make the files to either open in winrar, winzip, ect. but the 7-zip format is the best i've seen so far and since discovering it a few months back, it's all i use if i need to, the only thing is i have to keep sending it to my friends to install so they can open stuff i compress
Hopefully people will start using it more and more as time goes by... but then again... there are people i know who have had PC's for years and still don;t know what a zip file is let alone a rar file -
I've only ran into a few files with the 7-zip format, but I was also impressed. RAR files are left over from the old 'dial up' days. (Though some are still stuck in that.
Sorry. But with video, dial-up is not really a good option.)
Of course with a few of the people out there putting up torrents from questionable sources, we aren't seeing the 'best and brightest' out there, either. -
a lot of "fake" torrents are rar files also

Also useful to password protect a file. RAR encryption is pretty solid, there are only brute force dictionary attacks as far as I know.
One nice application is to put a series of images (jpeg, png, etc) into a rar archive (eg book scans). This can be read as-is with CDisplay -
