  1. I have a lot of movie files on my X-ternal hard drive, and its already full, i would love to burn the movies onto dvd's and of course, delete them of my computer.
I have burned a few, and it seems like it works fine for a little, and then the movie just stops playing, freezes, then like 5 minutes later it plays another millisecond and so on and so forth.

I use Converttxtodvd program, all i really want is the movie, i dont care to much for anything fancy or extra cool things added, i just want to put the dvd in and watch. If there is a better program out there i would like to know.
I just dont want to waste any more of my money by burning dvds that dont work.
The Dvd's i was using are Memorax.

If there is like GB issues or other technical stuff, i am kind of a newbie at all this computer stuff, so if possible, i would love a little explanation of how to do anything really. lol

I know this is possible i have plenty of friends that make replicas of movies and burn little movies of the internet and them put them on dvds....ANY help would be greatly appreciated, and just amazing. Thanks any one........really, thanks!

First suggestion is to try a different brand of blank dvds. Verbatim and taiyo yuden are generally recommended here. Also are you using imgburn to burn the dvds? That should be your default burning program.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. I Looked at the Dvd you mentioned they are a bit costly but are worth it if they burn the movies.
Anyways...i downloaded ImgBurn but i seem to be havng a problem with burning it says the file type is not supported. the file is Dvdrip, Xvid. Any suggestions?

Or you could keep using "MEMOREX" if you don't mind the way you report that they work.....

What say's the type of file is not supported ?

Imgburn just BURNS the disc, convertxtodvd converts xvid's to standard dvd format, but imgburn will burn xvids to dvd as xvid disc's so Imgburn is not saying the files are not supported, but your player must support xvid playback.

But if the disc's are the problem, it won't matter a whole lot what you burn them with, and the only way i would use memorex dvdr's is if someone gave them to me and i wanted to use them to transfer files 1 time and throw them away

If you factor in how many "I have burned a few, and it seems like it works fine for a little, and then the movie just stops playing, freezes, then like 5 minutes later it plays another millisecond and so on and so forth." the cheap discs are not so cheap anymore. Recommend Ty(JVC) and Verbs only. Try Rima.com or Supermediastore.com, get TY PREMIUM LINE ONLY discs, not the cheaper Valueline or you'll only have the same problems. +R 8x are generally accepted as the best single layer discs made, -R are still very good though. For DL discs, Verbs only, period.

    $60 for a 20 pack

Yeah i don't know what you were looking at seeing as you can get a 50 pack of Dual Layers for $55.00!!

Just yesterday i ordered 2 - 100packs of verbatim +R's from new egg for $18.99 each with free shipping.
    The one's i linked to,
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817507003

Plus they have combo deals where you can get a SATA or IDE dvd burner for as low as $12.00 per burner, for that price i bought 2 burners for extras.

Just set ConvertXtoDVD to output a VIDEO_TS folder instead of burning to disc, then load the VIDEO_TS folder into ImgBurn.
But once again, if the media is crappy (see my previous comment on "MEMORSUX") it won't make much difference.

The first ones you mention are CDs not DVDs. The others are fine, but as I said, the +R 8x are the best. I have literally burned thousands of them and I can count the coasters on one hand.

Why not just buy another external hard drive?
Hard drives work out cheaper than DVD's, are much more reliable than DVD's, Take up less space.
