Hi,
Im quite new to this so you will have to bear with me while i try to xplain the issue im having.
basicly i used makemkv to creat a .mkv of the film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo now i then run it through handbrake on the high profile and just pass through the audio.
I have created over 30 files this way and all are good in sync and good quality, however no matter what i do the .mkv of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo seems to be badly out of sync and it also seems that they are not speaking english can any one who has sen the film confim this?
ok so even the "Source .mkv made from with makemkv is the same so it isnt handbrake! here's a dump from mediainfo can any see any issues?
ok i can understand that it has been dubbed for the english language but why would it also be out of sync as well!Code:General Complete name : D:\Video\The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.mkv Format : Matroska File size : 21.5 GiB Duration : 2h 32mn Overall bit rate : 20.2 Mbps Encoded date : UTC 2010-10-06 16:37:33 Writing application : MakeMKV v1.6.0 win(x64-release) Writing library : libmakemkv v1.6.0 (0.7.7/0.8.1) win(x64-release) Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Muxing mode : Container profile=Unknown@4.1 Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 2h 32mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 19.3 Mbps Maximum bit rate : 25.0 Mbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Standard : NTSC Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.389 Stream size : 20.6 GiB (96%) Language : English Color primaries : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4, SMPTE RP177 Transfer characteristics : BT.709-5, BT.1361 Matrix coefficients : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4 709, SMPTE RP177 Audio ID : 2 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 2h 32mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 16 bits Stream size : 489 MiB (2%) Title : 3/2+1 Language : English Text #1 ID : 3 Format : PGS Codec ID : S_HDMV/PGS Codec ID/Info : The same subtitle format used on BDs/HD-DVDs Language : English Text #2 ID : 5 Format : PGS Codec ID : S_HDMV/PGS Codec ID/Info : The same subtitle format used on BDs/HD-DVDs Language : English Menu 00:00:00.000 : en:Chapter 00 00:11:10.920 : en:Chapter 01 00:22:06.575 : en:Chapter 02 00:28:50.895 : en:Chapter 03 00:38:51.787 : en:Chapter 04 00:49:38.934 : en:Chapter 05 01:01:01.074 : en:Chapter 06 01:11:35.374 : en:Chapter 07 01:22:32.906 : en:Chapter 08 01:29:35.119 : en:Chapter 09 01:38:25.858 : en:Chapter 10 01:47:23.228 : en:Chapter 11 01:54:49.340 : en:Chapter 12 02:08:12.685 : en:Chapter 13 02:15:03.178 : en:Chapter 14 02:25:35.685 : en:Chapter 15

Of course they're not speaking English because, as AlanHK says, it's a Swedish film. The BD has both languages but no one in their right mind would want to watch it with the dub track. You can always wait for the inferior Hollywood remake of it to watch it in English.
