Hi guyz, I've problem with my Samsung DVD writer SH-S203D, whenever I try to burn blank DVD-R discs into it, it recognize them as DVD-RW and hence just before actual burning process, it starts formatting those DVD-R discs and eventually end up giving error & burn process failed message and ejects the disc ,, this is happening since last week but it still can read and copy the data in disc but NO writing at all ..plz help ... thanx in advance...!! P.S-- I'm using win7 and Linux as dual boot and tried to write discs in both OS but same problem exists in both places since last week.

    May I ask what program(s) you are using to burn this information to the dvd-r. My PC identifies them at rw too, and technically they are rw until they are finalised. In my case my pc handles them properly.

    use IMGBURN to burn your discs...nuff said....

    Thanx 4 reply dude, I'm using nero in WIn & K3B in linux to burn dvd discs, it was all working fine till last week with both programs but from last 4 days im trying to burn DVD-R but it is all futile as it showing DVD-R as rewritable DVD and start formatting it just before burning and end up showing error , played with many options n settings but it not worked at all, and mainly, it happening in both win n linux OS , so is there any problem with my writer? then wat shd i do?

    i also thought the same at first time hence i used other company's dvds , old multisesssion dvds and 8.5gb dvd too , same problem is appearing though it is reading and copying other dvds very well. BTW im giving a try to that software imgburn , lets see... thanx 4 reply..!!

    More likely a drivers has gone berzerk or another 3rd party software makes your burntools go mad....
