    Hi

As I am a newbie to video-editing let me ask this :
What I want is a face covered in a video by a drawn face, which moves along over the normal face in the video.

Can you give me suggestions on how to do this ?
Which software can do this ?
What is the difficulty rate of this effect ? ("Can this be done by a blond newbie ?" )

    Suggestions are welcomed.

    Tnx !

It'd be a breeze in after effects. Just have to mask out the face and motion track the new one in it's place.

  3. ^ AE would be easy, but probably too difficult for someone new to video, let alone compositing and FX work (and it's quite expensive)

You might be able to do it frame by frame in an image editor (e.g. gimp, irfanview) , then reassemble the video - but it's very tedious (you don't have a motion tracker, so everything is done by hand)

You could probably do it in blender, at least that's free, but the learning curve is steep, even harder to use than AE

So yes, I would say this task is probably too difficult to be done by a "blond newbie" , and there isn't any cheap or free easy to use alternatives (if you want the video to look fairly good that is)

  4. Pretty easy in Premiere Elements also. But you will have to learn how to do key framing.

will do this in real-time... even live. You can use your own drawing or download one of the many available freebies. If you want the head animated (moving mouth) then you need something else... but a static head over a live head... gravy

(for certain clips... a heavy action clip might have some difficulty)
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
