I have the 1TB cinema classic HD and have had it for about 3 months. Everything was going fine until yesterday. I have put all my films, music, photos and ebooks on the system and everything was fine. Yesterday i turned it on and was choosing a film and the system froze. I had no option but to turn it off via the plug and try again. going down the selection of films i have on the system it froze again. It seems i have about 10 seconds on the system before it just freezes up completely. When i connect it to my laptop and use it as an external drive rather than its stand alone capability i can watch movies with no problems. Has anyone come across this before.

    Yours hopefully

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping this was a software fault and downloaded the latest firmware from the official site, but there are no instructions on what to do with the folder i downloaded for the update! I'm now in the process of copying all 340GB of media off of the damned thing (15hrs and 30mins to go) onto another external drive. Maybe a reset will put it right. I'll let you know tomorrow. If this fails then back to the shop i go.

  4. To elaborate .. IMHO..it sounds like the heatsink is either not attached at all or not attached correctly to the "CPU" inside the box. If you pick it up and give it a gentle/not so gentle shake (depending on your mood, warranty status etc) you might hear it rattling around. If it wont invalidate your warranty, it might be worth opening it up and posting a photograph here.
It could be something else entirely also
