Im pretty stupid when it comes to things about computers.
i know a little bit but this is just beyond me i dont know if its a hardware problem software problem or what.
But i reformatted and reinstalled Windows xp Home SP2 due to virus problem, sumhow got a virus and it $#@^#@ over my computer and i wasnt able to access internet, download nearly anything, or even system restore... so i reinstalled the windows and thought that i will just start all over again,
but wen i tried to set up internet nothing would work...still... i went to device manager and said that everything was working except: Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, RAID Controller, RAID Controller.
They all show yellow bubble with exclamation mark in them and i try update, reinstall and watever but i cant cause no internet... i have no othr CDs other than the windows xp home SP2 disk.
i know my computer works with my internet cause it was working... before the virus.
i dont know much about the desktop because my dad is the person who gave it to me and always messed with it.

If you formatted your HD and re-installed XP I doubt a virus is the probelm. I suspect your modem is defective.

You will somehow need to get the drivers and install them.
Look up the motherboard, assuming you have onboard ethernet and are using that to connect to the internet, and google the drivers for it on a different PC, then download the drivers and put them on a usb flash drive, cdr, ect. then take them to your pc and install them. -
Most likely all those are built into your motherboard. You need drivers for these; ones that aren't included in Windows.
Especially Ethernet, as that's what the network cable to your router plugs into.
If you don't know what model motherboard you have, use a utility like "Everest" (http://www.lavalys.com/support/downloads, see what it tells you about your hardware, then Google for the manufacturer's site. They will have drivers you can download. -
You can also run CPU-Z and it will identify your motherboard brand and model, and usually the revision number. Some MBs have more than one revision, and that's also printed on the MB, usually at the bottom.
CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html It doesn't need to be installed, just ran. Everest will give you lots of info, but you basically just need your MB model, then go to the MB website and download the required drivers. I would also advise using a USB thumbdrive to transfer the drivers to your PC.
Once you get the Ethernet adapter working, you may need other information from your internet provider to be able to connect to the net, but often not.
Good luck!
