    Hey guys,

I recently bought a lothone high def camcorder and after recording lots of short clips I tried to join them with all my regular software eg. tmpenc express, arcsoft mediaimpression etc. My software doesnt seem to like the file format of the videos. Do I need a specific codec? can anyone help me work this out?

Can you play the avi with windows media player without any problem? If not try install ffdshow.

And avc/h264 video can a be bit tricky to edit. You could try avidemux to join.

Thanks Baldrick, yeah the files play fine in media player and vlc. They actually open in arcsoft media impressions and I can cut and join the files but the best output(saving) options I get with it are 720x576(4:3) as an mp4. I was hoping the be able to direct stream copy like in virtualdub and not re-encode, is that feasible?

The files open in avidemux. Do my video files use B frame as a reference? how would I know?
