    hey guys
any idea why my tv looks blurry when i select 1280x720 resolution?
the tv allows me to change to that resolution but it looks terrible.
    any ideas why?

  2. Because it has a poor scaler. The incoming 1280x720 picture has to be scaled to the TV's native 1360x768 resolution to fit the screen.

oh, it doesn't just project less pixels horizontally like it does vertically...
can i make the tv not fill the screen horizontally some way when setting height to 720, instead of expanding?

No. Any input signal that does not match the TV's native screen resolution (larger or smaller) gets scaled to fit the screen. The TV will only display the native resolution.

im not sure that is the case. just now i tried a different tv where the screen wasnt getting stretched to either axis. it was displaying 1280x720 without being stretched and the native is 1920 by something. don't know how. i changed a bunch of settings. it doesnt matter now im getting a new tv. stupid 1360 resolutions screw me up on uploading to youtube.

edit: oh, i was able to get 1280x720 on my own 1360 tv with no stretches. win.
i forgot to mention i have it connected to my computer.
it is my graphics card that is doing all the work. did not know about this.

    thanks

Yes, you need to set up the TV's HDMI connection differently for use with a computer than for use with other video sources. Otherwise, it is likely that the computer's video output won't be displayed correctly.
