Is there software that will let me view an mpeg2 file the way it will be displayed on my tv? winDVD is misleading. I converted avi to mpeg 2 using tmpgenc with measurements of 576 x 432. After i converted the finished mpeg2 file i tested it on WinDVD and media player and it plays it at full screen .. perfectly. Now i put the svcd in my dvd player and its not even full screen, it's half the width of my tv and it's displaced to the top left of my tv .... argh .. so frustrating. I need to know the correct measurements at the time of encoding the mpeg2 file ... i hate having encoded a whole movie and find out its garbage .. what a waste of time. any help is appreciated.

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

The reason you can't view it on your TV is because you are not using a correct display resolution.
NTSC: 720x480 PAL: 720x576
SVCD NTSC: 480x480 Pal SVCD: 480x576
IF your resolution can be divided by 16 then it 'might' work but in realility stick to:
352x240, 352x480, 480x480 or 720x480 NTSC
352x288, 352x576, 480x576 or 720x576 PAL
