  1. I am seeing 1.4 format HDMI cabes now.

    http://www.cablegiant.com/default.aspx?p_id=1&c_id=31&pagenum=1

Does anyone know if these will work with 1.3 format equipment? I guess I am trying to figure out if they will play down?

    Any input is appreciated.

HDMI 1.4 adds Ethernet connectivity and some new formats. If you don't have that HDMI capability or those formats in your devices, you don't need it. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI I didn't read the whole article, but generally HDMI cables are backwards compatible. This from that link:
High Speed HDMI 1.3 cables can support all HDMI 1.4 features except for the HDMI Ethernet Channel

But v1.4 is backward compatible if that is what you are asking.
