I have downloaded two CD's which after being unrared with WinRar where converted into one BIN and one CUE files (per each CD). I use NERO 5.5.4.0 which can burn MPEG and AVI files into a VCD. How can I convert BIN and CUE files into MPEG so that I can burn the VCD (to be played in my DVD). Do I have to burn with CDRWIN the BIN and CUE files into a CD first, and then burn the resulting MPEG file into a VCD? If so, how should I configure CDRWIN?

    Thanks.

  2. When you burn the BIN/CUE file you'll probably end up with a VCD! That's how they are most of the time posted in the newsgroups. You can use CDRWIN or Fireburner to burn them.
If you want to extract the mpeg from the BIN/CUE files you can use VCDGear, it will also fix errors in the Mpeg in the process.

    Take care,

  3. Bin/cue files are image files of the VCD. You can burn them w/ several programs but the only freeware one I know of is CDRDAO. This is a command line program so you'll want a gui for it:

    TSCV (http://www.ttool.org or http://www.doom9.org)
    VCDEasy (http://www.doom9.org)
    XDuplicator (do a google search)

TSCV and VCDEasy are authoring programs that also work as GUIs for CDRDAO, XDuplicator is just a plain GUI (no special features).

  4. If you wish to directly Burn the BIN/CUE you downloaded you could use CDRWIN. Open the CUE file in CDRWIN and burn it to a CDROM to get the VCD. If CDRWIN does not work, try CDRDAO as suggested above.
If you however want to do your own authoring from the BIN/CUE, use vcdxrip www.vcdimager.org and rip the VCD to get the Mpeg files. You can now use your favorite VCD authoring programs with these ripped mpg files to create the new VCD.

Before you extract out the MPEG, what is it that you want to do? If you just want to create the VCD, burn the CUE/BIN image!!!

Extracting the MPEG with VCDGear would mean that you would lose any menus or additional interactivity that was authored on the original VCD.

i've used vcdgear 2.0 for ages.. and it works almost everytime (there wre afew images it diidn't like but they wre rare).. however i've noticed now that alot of poeple are packaging svcds/vcds with menus and chapter indexes.. so i'm finding now it's just esaier to burn the bin/cue straight using nero (5.5.6.4 is the latest version)

  11. I've got to agree with vitalis.....why convert/extract the mpg? Just burn the bin. Fireburner works well too.

My question is, there are 2 files: the bin and the cue. How do you load them into Nero 5.5, as it doesn't seem to accept them?

OK, what u do is this..IN NERO click 'FILE", then 'BURN IMAGE'.

Choose the CUE file...then you can burn the file to CDR.

If u get an error, it's probably because the CUE file is pointing
to the BIN file, but the BIN file is not where the CUE file is
    looking.

IN that case, open the CUE file with a text editor, Windows
WORDPAD will work, and chance the directy to where the
    actual BIN file is.

  14. update your Nero version www.ahead.de

Older Nero versions have problems with bin/cue files, from atleast v.5.5.6.4 everyting have worked nicely.

If you want to extract the content of the bin/cue you can use Isobuster or MageCd.
