  1. Hello!

Recently I purchased an AVerTV USB HD DVR and it works great. However, whenever I import my videos into Vegas, there is no video. The audio shows up fine, but the video isn't there. It's weird too because the file works fine on my desktop, but on my laptop it only shows audio.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

Use Mediainfo to identify what Aver puts out. Post here.

    AVC encoded is the problem.

AVER should be able to capture the as broadcast MPeg2 stream.

ts is an MPeg stream. AVC is an MPeg4 codec.

What did you record from? All US ATSC and cable broadcasts are MPeg2. Those work in Vegas.

Your app encoded with a codec Vegas can't read.

A detailed analysis in the program mediainfo will identify the codec in more detail.

Here is a preview review of the box and software.

They think video is is some flavor of h.264.

  9. mmk, that's what i had been thinking. but i doesn't matter which h.264 codec i put install, it still doesn't work. it's really annoying too because it works perfectly on my desktop with the same codecs i have installed as my laptop:/

vegas doesn't rely on system installed codecs, it uses it's own internal mainconcept decoder . You can't just change it or swap out a different decoder for vegas, unlike directshow media players

regardless, it should work, because AVC transport streams are common (e.g. AVCHD camcorders, blu-ray => these work fine in vegas)

There maybe something peculiar about the file. Try re-wrapping in tsmuxer. All it does is "repackages" it.

If you can't figure it out, can you upload a sample (if <30MB you can upload directly here, if >30MB, you can use a free hosting site e.g. mediafire.com, sendspace.com)
