Hi, everytime I render a 3 minutes video as .avi the file size goes up to 500mb !? O.O
After that I convert it to another divx avi with total video converter. It has now 38mb but the quality is worse and its still big.. if 3 minutes is 38mb then how come the movie has 700mb and is 110 minutes?

    Thx for any suggestion

You have to learn how to configure your codec properly. You also haven't given much in the way of real detail. What resolution is your final video ? Are you doing a single pass or two pass render ?

Remember that these 700MB files are low resolution (620 or less in width), and the quality usually isn't great. I find that to get near original quality (original being SD MPeg-2 source) I need around 550 MB per 30 minutes.

720 x 480 will require a reasonably high bitrate to maintain quality.

What is the running time ?

Personally, I would edit in Vegas, render out as DV AVI, then use Xvid4PSP to create the Xvid file using the AVI Hardware setting.

The quality is controlled by how you set the codec up. I have never had a great deal of luck getting good Xvid renders out of Vegas, hence my recommendation that you render out in DV AVI, which Vegas does well, then use a better tool to produce your Xvid file.

Render as AVI, and select DV as the type. It is all in the help files.

No, you cannot rip commercial DVDs directly to AVI format. You would have to convert them, which will take time and may reduce quality depending on the settings.

No, you don't need to create an ISO. Use Imgburn in Build Mode and select the Video _TS folder. It will dot he rest.
