Here it tells me to download the Norton Removal Tool, but when I download it to my desktop and click it, it doesnt run (indicates another version is running. This is strange as I have restarted my comp so many times. Can anyone help?

Try running it in SAFE Mode?

Should work if you do it in safe mode as suggested. If your still having problems after that then you may have to go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Once your there just look for the Norton service and end it or stop it, a lot of programs won't let you uninstall them unless they are closed in all windows and have stopped running. But safe mode should do the trick.

I highly recommend that you use the free Norton uninstalling tool that is on their website, and is recommended by Norton; Norton is notorious for damaging operating systems when uninstalling using standard methods. Google "Norton Uninstall Tool" and you will find it.

[EDIT]: Sorry about that, you already have tried using it. I should slow down and read posts carefully. If Safe Mode doesn't work, try using Task Manager to stop any Norton active running processes and try again.
