    Well normally video and audio are in sync, but sometimes after you muxed all together
    it appears that (one of) the audio stream(s) is not in sync.

    I would like to test that upfront.
    But seem not to be able to find a simple tools which lets you load an M2V file and a DTS or AC3 file seperata
    and then to play the 2 together so you can see if they are in sinc and even more
    important HOW MUCH they are out of sync if they are.

    DDMaesto has this preview function but its somehow nog working for me anymore.
    Must be another simple program out there that can do the same???

    Thanks

    You can try Media Player Classic or MPCHC. Just name the video and audio same like video.m2v and video.ac3 and play the video.m2v and it should automatically load the audio.

  3. VirtualDub:
    File -> Open Video File
    Audio -> Audio From Another File
    Audio -> Interleaving -> Delay audio track...

    Works for AC3. Not sure about DTS.

    Indeed that works for MPC, thanks for the tip.
    However if I scroll thru the movie the sounds still there but the screen goes black.
    (maybe have to wait longer for the video to pick up again)

    So there is no smart little tool like this outthere in which you can load video and audio streams?
    Howdo all you guys do it then?
    Just wait and pray that after muxing all is in sync?

    @jagabo,

    well tried with virtualdub, but that needs to render the M2V first....which takes already longer.
    And after this it freezes my system :S (file are moren then 6 GB) so thats not doing it for me either....

    Too bad Dvdlab pro has this not build in......
    You can only play multiplexed files with video and audio together.

    Something is wrong with your system or that particular file.

    @jagabo,

    Why would there be something wrong with the system?
    Everything works fine all day. Doing a lot of encoding, demuxing, muxing and authoring past days.
    All jobs that are a lot more heavy then playing a file and scroling or rendering a file.
    I am just authoring that file (source MKV) and everything goes ok and will create that DVD without problems.

    So why would my system be in error here? Maybe I am missing a few vital codecs
    But would not then all the other encoding, (de)muxing and authoring go in error?

    Still think it just the size and the sofware that not doing it for me.
    Well the audio was completely in sync this time so no problems.
    But still I would love to have a program with which I can check it before I start building my DVD

    All those other jobs do not involve DirectShow screen rendering with Video Overlay. Those are big problem areas for graphics drivers. Update your graphics card's drivers to the latest WHQL certified drivers.

    Change filters and output devices in MPCHC. For example, on one of my systems with integrated Intel graphics, VMR9 and EVR will crash the system. System Default, Overlay Mixer, or VMR7 work fine.

    VirtualDub also uses DirectShow output by default. Turn off the "Use DirectX for Display Panes" option for greater stability.

    Also, a lot of DirectShow M2V reader/splitter filters have problems. You may have to look for a different one.

    hmmm ok...
    Thanks for pointing that out.
    My system is swarming with codecs actually, so could well be I have an overkill there.
    But I will look into your tips

    Hi guys, I'd like to be able to play external audio DTS tracks in sync. Of course if they are muxed in will perfectly work but if they are demuxed then are out of synchrony. I use MPC, Win7 64 bit, quad processor, Nvidia GeForce GT 230M. I got 3 Blue-ray rips in both; 2D & 3D and wanted to save space having just one audio (demuxed) for both mkv-s. thx. cheers. MKV:81 minutes, Dts: 133 min.

  11. Try using the audio time shift feature in MPC.
