So my friend recorded a bunch of mini-dvd's with a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD101 and out of 200 dvd's, 10 of them were unreadable by the computer. I was able to use Isobuster to access the dvd's and extract .wav files, but half of the the videos will only play in 3-12 second increments even though there is 1 gig worth of file. If I move the play tab forward in the timeline, it will play from that point on, but again, only in 3-12 second slots. The files are in .avi format. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this problem or could provide a solution. Thanks,
AJ

I've been editing DVD's for a friend who has that same Sony and as far as I know it doesn't record AVI and WAV files (your ISOBuster rips must not be good). It records in either DVD-Video or DVD-VR mode. In DVD-Video mode, the disc must be finalized in the camera to be playable anywhere else. In VR mode it's not necessary to finalize, but you need a DVD reader and software that can handle the format (a reader that can do DVD-RAM).
Always rip with DVDdecrypter, it has better error handling and if I remember well, it will bork out on DVD-VR. In which case I would import into NeroVision Express. Also, I've had relative success in reading really bad discs in NVE, then edited out the bad parts. The camcorder doesn't follow DVD specs and creates too many chapters resulting in discs that won't work with some programs. Importing the disc in TDA and exporting it to a new DVD (no menu), makes it compliant.
