    Hello guys,

    does anyone know how to make readable srt Cyrillic subtitles on Panasonic DMR-BS750 from USB flash memory DIV X,AVI format movie?

    This is a good question, but you're probably not going to like the answer.

    First of all, you have to find out if the Panasonic supports Cyrillic or not. The manual should tell. Note that typically DVD players have a rather reduced character set that they'll support for Divx subtitles. You'll get Latin and maybe if you are lucky Cyrillic. But I've heard of support only for Latin characters and for Latin plus something other than Cyrillic.

    Assuming your Panasonic does support Cyrillic, you have to find out WHICH Cyrillic it supports. Usually it's CP-1251. Unicode is almost never supported. If the player supports some Cyrillic format like KOI8_R or ISO-8859-5 (I actually have a Philips DVD player that supports this incredibly obscure and ancient Cyrillic encoding) you will have to change the Cyrillic to this format. Good luck. Oh - you will need to do any encoding changes on a Windows box or you'll probably have issues with the player not understanding it if you do it under Linux or OS X.
