  1. Hi, I downloaded a movie that I want to play in WMV format. I have Windows Vista 64-bit, and tried playing the video with VLC and MPC, which both gave error messages and played only the audio, not the video! VLC did not give me any specific error information, but Media Player Classic gave me the following message after saying it did not have the proper codec to play the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like real video. Tried realplayer?

Or else use mediainfo to identify what video codec it contains.

Real Video is still fairly popular in some parts of the near east. I see it with animes at times. I convert them all to a more 'usable' format. Real Alternative Player is still around if you want to avoid all the '*stuff' that comes with Real's own player. (*Such as wanting to take over playback of all your files.)
