Hey everybody. I am new to this, so I am looking for some help. Basically, I am attempting to take DVD's containing football games and create one highlight film from several DVD's. My problem is that I have done this before from video camera attached to PC, but am unsure how to get the DVD ripped to my pc so I can edit and make 5 discs become 1. I am sure someone has already asked this question, but was unable to find anything on it. I have a PC and am looking for a VERY cost effective way to do this. Obviously the cheapest, most effective method available would be awesome.

    Welcome to the forums.

OK, we understand that you are new, but up to the left under "Video Help" and under "HOW TO" we have something called "All guides". That would be one good place to look. There are guides that tell how to rip DVDs there.

DVDFab is free. Some studios use some copy protection methods that require updates to DVDFab and you have to have the non-free version to get those updates regularly, but a football DVD probably doesn't use those methods (most studios don't use them) so the free DVDFab will probably be able to do all the ripping you need.

    I changed your thread title.

Most effective method depends what you want.

Chepeast methods: DVD Shrink, use the reauthoring part to cut out what you want from the DVDs. It can also make a new dvd from all clips(vob files) but no menus. Or if you advanced/nle editing with transitions and such, use vob2mpg on the dvd and import the mpg in windows live movie maker.

Commercial software: Tmpgenc dvd author, Mpeg video wizard dvd, NeroVision. They can import from dvds, edit out clips, make menus, etc.
