  1. I am trying to merge wideos from my JVC camera. Originally they were in some strange format but I searched it and it took changing the extension to mpg for them to work. Inside there is a video stream MPEG video (version 2) and AC-3 2 channels audio stream.

I wanted to use TMPGE mearg function to put some of them together and the video seems to be ok - in a sense it was merged properly but there is no audio at all. Is it because the app does not support AC-3 natively and I would have to buy AC-3 plugin which I suspect is the reason... ?

Is there any other app that could do this task ?

    Please advice - thanks

What 'strange' format? .mts? It would help to tell us what JVC camera you are using. And what version of TMPGEnc? Older versions had problems with AC3.

And what is your final format? If it's DVD, just encode the video and add the AC3 during the authoring to DVD process.

  3. The JVC "format" extension is somevideo.MOD inside like I wrote in my first post are the MPEG video (version 2) and AC-3 streams, I simply change the name of the extension to .mpg and it works.

TMPGE version 2.525.64.184, core version 2.04.169.

The final format would be a file playable on my PC and PS3 but with no compression, I want to preserve original quality.

    Thanks

I think that's an old version of TMPGEnc that can't handle AC3. Just add it in during authoring as mentioned. Mod files are usually safe to rename to mpeg, though you may lose subs or other features. If you aren't authoring to DVD, then you need something to mux the AC3 with the video. I haven't done that in a while, but you can check some of the demux/remux programs here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-de-multiplexers

  5. hahahaha ..... I am just stupid, thanks for your help.

I found that the software that comes with the camera PowerDirector Express does exactly what I want in very easy way (2 clicks and dragging files)

Thanks for you help and sorry to waste your time...
