  1. Hello:

I am trying to make a backup of an European DVD movie to a DVD backup but every time I insert the DVD I get the error "Cannot play this DVD because of zone restrictions".

I selected region free on dvdshrink options but still cannot watch the DVD.

Anyone knows what can I do to be able to watch this movie on any DVD player?

The DVD player is from USA.

    Thanks

The issue goes beyond region settings alone. You are attempting to play a PAL system DVD in an NTSC system player. Do a search on PAL and NTSC, as I have neither the time nor energy to explain.

You might try re-ripping the dvd using dvdfabhddecrypter and see if you get better results.

  5. Sony and Toshiba are notorious for the "Zone Restrictions" message even when that is not really what the issue is. Since your player is from the USA, it sounds like the problem is that it's refusing to play a PAL DVD regardless of the region code.

If you do get a player that will play PAL DVDs regardless of region, you will run into other obstacles. Will the DVD player convert the PAL disc to NTSC in order to be shown properly on your NTSC television? If not (meaning the player will only output PAL), will your television display the PAL signal properly?
