  1. I have already burned my vhs to dvd via sony vhs/dvd combo burner. I now have these dvd's and am having trouble getting them converted to a format to use with imovie. I have used mpg streamclip before but this time it doesn't seem to want to recognize the files in TS folder. I downloaded streamclip for mac and pc and both are running into same problem. I've been reading the forums but none of the answers suits my situation.

My pc is currently down so I am looking for a good converter for mac. There are a bunch of "dvd ripper suites" out there under various brand names, but they are $39-$49 and I don't see anything support forums for them. I'm not necessarily looking for a free utility, but if I'm going to pay for it I would like some advice from the experts.

Because my source is vhs tapes, the quality of the output isn't of high significance (although it could be in the future). The last time I converted to .mov files which worked fine with imovie. Should I be using another format?

    Thanks

I've not used a Mac or iMovie, but from reviewing the iMovie info page, the app is expecting video files or video imported from a movie camera. NOT vob files from a DVD. You will likely need to RIP the DVD's and convert/extract to mpeg2 files....then import into iMovie. And of course this will all get more complicated as you appear to be trying to use a Mac.

    Good luck
