  1. Hey guys, I'm in real trouble now so if you guys could help me out on this.

Here is the thing: my university professor has lent me a DVD and asked me to make copies to all other students. But the problem is that I dropped it two or three times and it's scratched so I can't make copies of it using Nero for example. Thinking about a solution, I went testing the disc on my standalone player and it plays fine so I assume that if I just play it on my computer like as if I was watching it, there would be no problems as well - and it didn't. So my question here is: is there a way to capture the video being played (@1X - to watch) on the computer screen instead of ripping the DVD (@ 2X, 4X, 6X, etc...) which is giving me problems?

Get it re-surfaced, if you can. I don't refer to some piece-of-crap "disc repair" kit from Best Buy either. Call around, and see if any rental shops have one of these: http://www.discchek.com/ecosenior.html

You can always try DVD Decrypter, go into the settings, and force it to read 1x. Enable multiple retries. Use a good burner, too. Try a Pioneer drive.

isobuster has been recommended for difficult discs as well though I can't comment specifically since I haven't personally used it for such purposes.
