I can't find any threads on Titlewriter editing the title and the files BUP and IFO match size.

using TitleWriter 4.65 i opened Juno

Under Volume; with Name selected--- added the text "Juno" saved changed.

Copied all of the files in the folder titlewriter/undo_0 and replaced those in the Video_TS

    Started Nero Burning Rom
    Chose VideoDVD
    add the files to Video_TS

when i burn I get the error Backup file 'Video_TS.BUP should be identical to "Videl_TS.IFO'

and error box appears DVD-Video files compliance test failed.
the Video_TS.bup is 26k the Video-TS.IFO is 24k so the file size doesn't match.

I couldn't find anything in the titlewriter help files on this issue....... I could use some pointers

This is the second disc I have tried to backup with the same results. I see such great praise of this program that i must be doing something wrong.......

I am using a Sony Juke Box DVP-CX995V so I really like the titles to appear.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Is the solution as simple as

    I found on a related site https://forum.videohelp.com/topic175537.html

    Make BUP

The new file should be 2k bigger than the VIDEO_TS.BUP file. Delete the BUP file.

Copy the IFO file and rename it to .BUP

Also, do you agree with the complete replacement step from the undo_0 folder?

Hunh -- Now thats strange -- yes the ifo and bup files should match Post TW
.bup (Backup) should be an Exact copy of the .ifo
and yes creating a copy of the ifo >> deleting the bup >> renaming the ifo to .bup will fix
(but damned if I can see how TW can fail to create the bup without crashing.)

In most cases the ifo (Post TW) will be a minimum of 1 segment (2048Kb) larger then the original
Basic size of the table + text info may increase the ifo file size up to 32Kb

I'll look into it -- Ver 4.66 will be coming out in a few days

Oops Just reread your first post

Don't do anything by hand --Dragging the Undo files back is your mistake.
TW modifies The Video_ts folder for compliancy (you burn that) -- Undo folders are used Strictly By TW to Return the compiliation to Pre TW or requested backup points you don't drag/drop anything

Lose Nero (Way to many problems especially with dl) Use ImgBurn

    See TW>>Help>>Usefulstuff
It will tell you how to set up a 1 click on TW toolbar to burn your compiliation directly from TW (Using ImgBurn)

    I understand my mistake:
I had looked in the Video_TS folder to see if the date and time stamp had changed to the moment when I added title text to the Juno files. The date didn't show any newer time stamp. This lead me to think that I had to move the files from Undo_0 and replace those in the Video_TS folder....

I will take your lead and Lose Nero then Use ImgBurn.

You must have been looking at the creation timestamp -- Not the modified stamp
Ah well -- easily fixed (Wish all were that way)

  6. So heres a screenshot using a hex editor that I can see TitleWriter put in the name of the disc, but yet again, my Sony wont read it. Where should this info be at?

Okay - First the screenshot is of the initial vmg segment (VMGM_MAT) not the (VMG_TXTDT_MG)
The Caddyshack area filled in is the Provider ID - Nothing to do with DVD_TEXT.

PS -- Use ifoedit for dumps its Quite a bit easier (More verbose with labels)

    So Open TW>Load The Compiliation

Menu bar --Settings>>Change Settings>> check create Sony Second line (I also check the create pioneer second line) >>Save Changes

now (Need to start clean for my sanity)

Click MENU TEXT icon until you see Volume: in top left of window

I assume you are using the latest TW 4.72 I think

    Menu Bar -- Dvd Text>>Rebuild ...

    To Hand Edit Entries:

You will see a bunch of clean entries
to change an entry -- click it (large window) and edit in the "Select Above Entry -Edit Here" area

To Auto fill From Dvd_Text database:

You will see Title: followed by Name: then a bunch of chapter lines (the number of chapter entries corresponds to the number of chapters in that movie or title) you need to find the right "title" section matching the movie
Click on that Name entry (just below the Title line)
(If you edit that entry --- TW will search for that name in the following steps)
R-Click On that window>> A Menu will pop up select Option 13 (Search Chapter name Database)
Wait for it -- It may have to download updates.
find your movie (if there) and select/highlight it >> Save To Dvd Text>> Tw will fill in the text segment for that title from database info

(A trick the box directly above the movie name list is a search box just start typing the name in - it will skip through names searching for best match on the fly)

One thing though Sony's may not show all the info - Pioneers do

Most of this is covered in the Help section

If you are unsure if its there --- simply close and reboot tw on that compiliation -- Menu text icon etc. Tw will display whats there

  8. OK, I tried this step by step and still "NO TEXT" on my Sony changer. Is my problem SlySoft??? Would that overwrite something? What other software should I be using? Again, total noob so Im trying to keep it easy, but the TEXT on my player is key. The kids are always taking the discs out and when their put back, they dont rename it. Pain in the ARSE. I see there are 300 diferent ways to to this, but im lookin gfor the quickest, easiest way. Any help all? FallenAngeL????

Then when I burn the files, SlySoft will only pull it from the main folder. I cant point the Titlewriter folder as it errors out. Heres what I have:

Size: 28.0 KB

Any thoughts on this? Why wont my Sony DVPCX-985 see the text on this?? Wasting discs trying to get it to work right!!

Okay -- Everything in TW looks right -- And if there was a problem with TW I would have heard about it long before this
So Must be a local workflow problem

First you don't burn the TW folder its the video_ts folder.
and this phrase sounds very wrong
"Then when I burn the files, SlySoft will only pull it from the main folder" -- WTF does Slysoft have to do with burning a compiliation from the HD --- especially with DL's (And I'm assuming you are using Verbatim)

ImgBurn is the software for burning -- especially dl's

Heres the workflow I use (And yes I use Slysoft)

Rip to HD using Slysoft (simple file copy)
Boot TW >>point it at ripped folder
DVDShrink Reauthor mode (Via TW for menu readition)--whack and hack (TW is set up for this -- most of the time I whack to Movie only sl's) to another drive ne folder
Open the "Shrunk" compiliation in TW >> Play
Alter DvdText,Menu editing (Fix Menu in Happyface if needed)
Then Burn from TW interface using ImgBurn (On dl's set layer break)
(to set burner up in tw interface)
Click View Tool List >>Add >> And paste this command in (From TW >>Help>> Useful Stuff)

    C:\Program Files\ImgBurn\ImgBurn.exe /MODE ISOBUILD /BUILDMODE DEVICE /DEST "f:" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /WAITFORMEDIA /SRC "@DVDPATH@\VIDEO_TS" /SPEED 2 /CLOSESUCCESS /VOLUMELABEL @DVDVOLUMENAME@ /START

Note the Burner is f (Coded above /DEST "f:") simply change the f to your burner drive

Click Ok --- And you will see the imgburn icon added to tw Icon toolbar

Just as a check E_mail me the file Video_TS/Video_ts.ifo from the compiliation folder (Not Titlewriter folder) to f.allen.angel@sbcglobal.net
I'll glance at it -- But I'm sure its fine. Best guess is its Slysoft in some fashion

Wait a minute -- You are not ripping to image --Are you?

The file from the Caddyshack E_mail is fine DVD_TEXT segment is present and verified
The file from the burned disk is not -- No DVD_Text segment at all (Its also 2 KB smaller (which is the min size of DVD_Text segment))

Obviously Somehow you are not burning the right file/folder or Slysoft is mucking around-- Was the burn done with ImgBurn
    Quote Quote
  15. No it was done with SlySoft. So I can rip with SlySoft and then burn the files with Img burn once their ripped and text edited with TW. Correct?
    Quote Quote
  16. Im trying it now wiht a SlySoft burn vs. a Imgburn. Ill let yo know what works. When I did put in the Imgburn roject it saw the text. So I hope thats just the fix i need.

Yes - You might want to disable Slysoft after the rip -- So it doesn't get in the way (And it does if you check Verify in Imgburn)

P.S. Im Cheap 99% compiliations shrunk to sl's using TW -- Shrink (TW readds menus to dvdshrunk reauthored files BTW) And HappyFace will fix any menu

  18. OK. So I ripped with Slysoft, used TW to write the text and then burned with Imgburn. That worked!!!! Going to try a few more today to see if I can replicate those results. Must be a SlySoft issue. Wierd thing is IF I ad the text via TW, SlySoft removes it. BUT whn I make a exact back up of a disc that has the DVD text, it is fine and remains. So somehow SlySoft is removing what TW is adding an not recognizing it. Maybe a tweak for the next update of TW huh FA?? Thanx a TON for your help FA!

The problem isn't TW but Slysoft. I've been through to many debugs and deconstructed to many ifo's to be shaky on DVD_TEXT, and way to many players have eaten the TW modifications without a hiccup. So no Updates for this.

(And in all modesty I'm probably the only idiot outside of the studios/and good authoring proggies who really understands that segment)

What really throws me is a burning software modifying a compiliation after verification --- thats very very bad

    WTF else is it doing????
    Quote Quote
  20. Who knows. But the next three I backed up, ripped with AnyDVD, Text modded with TW and burned with Imgburn, all worked perfectly! So, SlySoft was the culprite. Odd. I would have thought it would have just burned the ripped image. Id like my 11 wasted DL's back tho! Oh well. Lesson learned!

Just out of curiousity are you seeing anything beyond the title -- I've heard that model no longer supports the deeper text fields (though earlier ones did)
Are you seeing anything (beyond title) on the led/lcd display or when INFO is displayed

My pioneer jukes pull/update the text at every title/chapter/cell change
    Quote Quote
  22. All Im seeing is the main title. and that is just fine with me. Just trying to sort the titles but alpha is a pain as it prioritizes caps ofver lower case. Stupid function! So thats why Im makeing the point of renaiming them all correctly with a title that will be read. Not just the DVD icon and no name if its taken out!

  23. Ive made about 20 re-back ups and it works great now. I rip with AnyDVD, edit text with TW and burn with ImgBurn and its fine! The actor or Genre does not show up in my player but Im ok with that. Even Movies like the Matrix and LOTR, Im going to redo as the text thats on the discs put them out of order from the order its put in. (It says Retrun of the king disc 1 instead of LOTR or Lord of...). Thanx FA for helping me uncover the why's of this problem!
