so ive searched the guides tried some programs and havent had much luck so i was hoping someone on here could suggest how i take a dvd from the drive and convert it to 1 file.. avi or mpg? i also have vob files on my computer that id like to do the same with too.

any suggestions to a easy reliable 1-2 click program?

  2. If for MPG, then VOB2MPG will do it without any reencoding. If for XviD or DivX AVI, you might try opening the first VOB in AutoGK and it'll add in the rest automatically. There are guides at the bottom of the AutoGK page, but they're not really needed.

another quick question i was hoping i could get help with...

the DVD i am loading is ripped to my computer so i open the"VTS_01_0.IFO" file and i get a pop up and it says
"Several PGC's were found in the IFO file
please select one of the following pgc's
than there is a drop down box and it says:
    pgc1 1:13:08
    pgc2 55:05:09"

how do i know what one it is???????

  5. One's 73 minutes long and the other's 55 minutes long. I don't know which you want. If they're 2 halves of the same movie, then you want them both.

If doing it directly in AutoGK, whether you open the IFO and choose one or open the VOBs, you'll encode the entire thing - the 73 minute long one plus the 55 minute long one. It's sort of a defect in AutoGK, but if you want both PGCs, then you'll get them.
i dont see how though when i select the first vob file i dont see where it grabs the rest??
    Assuming they're numbered sequentially:

    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB

by loading the first one it'll grab the rest automatically.

If you decide you want only one of the PGCs, here's what you do. Open that same IFO in PGCDemux. Check "Create a PGC VOB" and uncheck the rest in that column. Use the dropdown box to choose the PGC you want. Again, I can't tell you which you want. Maybe play the DVD to see. Maybe get one of the PGC VOBs and check it out to see if it's what you want. If it is, load it into AutoGK when done demuxing.

  7. OK, in that case each PGC is most likely a complete episode. Unless you want them encoded together as one episode, follow my instructions about separating them out with PGCDemux and then open the resulting VOB(s) in AutoGK. Either that or start over, this time decrypting them to separate folders using DVD Decrypter set up in IFO Mode (not the default).

having the Disc 1 which has 2 episodes on it in one mpg file would be nice however having it in 2 files doesnt bother me at all either..

so basically could i just open auto GK select the VTS_01_0.IFO file and than when i get that popup just select the hour long one and than when its done open the same file and go back and do the same for the 55 min one?

No, that's the point I was trying to make (unsuccessfully, I guess). AutoGK will give them both to you in one big AVI no matter what you do. It's a defect in the program - that even though it shows 2 separate PGCs in the dropdown box, it is incapable of separating them. You could always separate them yourself when done, easily enough.

And if you want subs, you can't load VOB(s). You have to load an IFO. If you want subs you'll have to start all over and decrypt the episodes separately to the hard drive, using DVD Decrypter set up for IFO Mode. Then check the sub language(s) you want. If you don't want subs, loading VOBs is OK.

If you have created the subs separately, or downloaded them from some subtitle site, then you can load VOB(s) and add the subs using the CTRL-F8 trick.

AutoGK doesn't make MPGs. It makes AVIs, either XviD or DivX AVIs.
