OK, quite simply what I want to do is obtain X264 switches/options used in a encode so I can replicate a friends encode myself (he's currently on the other side of the country and won't give me the encode settings separately from the whole file, which I don't currently have the bandwidth to download) using the same X264 settings. I know the ones used in an encode can be viewed for instance with MediaInfo but it is formatted into an alternative syntax to that used by the CLI encoder. Is there a way to convert the Encoding settings shown in MediaInfo so they can be used by the X264 CLI encoder and if not, is there in fact a program that will show the raw command used by the X264 encoder to encode the video?

No there isn't.
Just tell your friend to send the log file, it's a few kb big.
The commandline reported by the log file is the correct syntax (you would just have to change filenames/paths) , provided you use matching x264 builds (some switches differ between versions and patched versions). Otherwise you can dig through the mediainfo report if you have a sample of the encode -
yeah thats what i mean, i have a mediainfo report but don't know how to convert the encode settings shown in the report to the correct syntax of CLI switches, hence why i was wondering if there is any way to convert the Encoding settings shown in mediainfo so they can be used by the X264 CLI encoder or if there is a program that will show the CLI "Encode settings" in a usable syntax.
