  1. Hi everyone!

I really just need some updating here. I used to be old school and rip dvd's with decrypter and never had a problem. I used to rip all the dvd files with decrypter, use Imgtool to create an ISO image, then load that image back into decrypter to burn the entire dvd onto a dvd+r dl. Short and sweet, perfect dvd's every time. Now however, with all the new copyright protections it doesn't work. I have tried dvdfab hd decrypter but just created a coaster with "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Checking the ratings on the tools lists it seems that ripit4me is rated the best. All I want to do is rip the full movie, create an ISO image and burn onto a DVD+R DL. The guide I found for Ripit4me uses DVD Shrink. Do I have to use that? Does anyone have a method to create a dvd9 using Ripit4me? Thanks!

  2. RipIt4Me still does OK on older titles, but hasn't been updated since early 2007. If you're sure you've used DVDFab HD Decrypter properly, then most likely it cannot handle the protection on "CWACOM" which is a brand new Sony release.

DVDFab HD Decrypter is currently the best free ripper and is updated regularly. You'll probably just have to wait a bit for an update in order to back-up your disc.

Also, if you do use RipItForMe on a DVD-9 disc and it works, there is no need for DVD Shrink if you plan to burn to a DVD+R DL disc.

When I started backing up my DVD collection a couple years ago I started out with ripit4me. It was a nice way to get acquainted with the process. But, since you have already backed up DVD's with another process I would suggest trying another tool.

ripit4me has not been updated since April '07. And, I believe it used dvd decrypter anyway, which won't solve your problem.
I have used DVD Fab exclusively with a 99% success rate, so don't give up on the program just yet.

To get a working disc every time use the DVD Fab/ DVDShrink/ Imgburn process. You have already used Imgtool, so DVDShrink should be good for you. There are a few more options, but you can output in ISO to burn with Imgburn.

However, since you want to use dual-layer discs you can avoid DVDShrink. I would still recommend Imgburn to burn rather than DVD Fab. Just use the build mode in Imgburn.

    Good luck!
