What screen recorders have you tried?

You might also set the compression for the AVIs the screen recorders generate to none or a lossless codec - if you have it set to a lossy codec, like DivX/Xvid, the system also has to compress while it's capturing, and depending on how powerful your system is, that could lead to frame dropping and losses in capturing quality.

    Have you tried FRAPS?
