    I am not experienced with video capturing and i have had this camera for several years. I just recently bought a new Asus laptop and a copy of adobe premiere 8. I have tried several other programs and Sony online updates but i just cant get my computer to recognize it. can someone please help a frustrated video editing beginner?

    it's a miniDV cam, you need to hook it up to the computer over a firewire ieee1394 connection. winDv will handle the file tranfer, it's free.

    i was looking around and figured out i need a firewire connection, but my laptop only has usb. it does have a 3-in-1 card reader, SD, MMC, MS, so i was trying to figure out if i can use a FireWire/USB ExpressCard. Do you know if my 3-in-1 will be compatible with a FireWire/USB ExpressCard?

    most likely it will work with an expresscard port.
