To what extent could I use this with these specs until I upgrade (which will be soon) -

    Core 2 Duo 2.67GHz
    2 GB RAM
    8600GTS
    Some random regular HDD 320GB

How will this do with the compressed codec or whatever? What about editing or rendering?

    I plan on getting

    4 GB RAM (total)
Not exactly sure what graphics card but it'll be good enough
Two 500GB HDD on RAID 0 - maybe two 1 TB HDD

That should be enough for the MJPEG codec.

Editing depends on the software you intend to use and how you define "editing". Those specs meet Premiere Pro CS4 minimums. Rendering speed will scale with CPU power.

For uncompressed 720p capture you will need two drives in RAID 0 (not counting separate OS drive).

For uncompressed 1080i capture you will need three to four drives (960 Mb/s sustained) in RAID 0 (not counting separate OS drive). For 1080i be prepared for 422 GB per hour.

What is that data rate for MJPEG? I only have like 100 GB left on my HDD, but I'm going to upload my videos straight to youtube after I record and they're not something I necessarily need to back up so I'll probably delete them off the HDD.

If I were going to livestream with this card would I need any more than 2GB of RAM or better than my dual core 2.67GHz cpu?
