Greetings -

I have a new computer (Win7, quad, 64 bit) and am having trouble getting virtually any "portable" software to work.

The programs never open properly and just crash. These are special versions of a software that run as standalone .exe files that can be put on a USB drive, a thumb drive, etc.

I have tried running them as administrator and with the compatibility set to WinXP - no luck.

Any suggestions? Is there some other prerequisite software I need installed on this machine to get the portables to run that I may not be aware of? It may be something simple that I am just not thinking about.
