    • I've just found an interesting video host at VeeHD
Both it and VREEL are DixX sites that say if you upload a DivX video they won't convert it, thus leaving you to optimise it as you like. Sounds good.

So what would you guys recommend to use for the conversion? And what kind of settings? Any other thoughts?

I'm on a PC and use Premiere and AE.

      Cheers!

(p.s. VeeHD have got lots of old BBC Horizon programs that play back very nicely. )

Personally, I like Xvid4PSP using the AVI Hardware preset for compatability. There's also Handbrake. If you like more hands on then even VirtualDub works fine. There's a bunch of options.

PS: You should be able to use divx/xvid interchangeably in virtuall all situations. Especially using DX50 for your FOURCC.
    Have a good one,

Just an FYI, Handbrake 0.9.4 no longer supports XVID encoding. I would also recommend Autogk.

The DivX Plus Web Player supports .mkv video streaming from websites, so you can also create files within the DivX Plus HD spec and stream from the same websites. The format is H.264 video with AAC audio in the MKV container. StaxRip just added support for making DivX Plus HD files via x264, but you can also use it to make DivX files:

And obviously, DivX Converter will make files that work great on sites that use the DivX Web Player, too.
