If you own the Vixia HG21, or similar Canon Vixia models, please advise on what settings I should go with manually. Also, should I use that software that came with the camera Imagemixer 3 SE or something else?

I just bought my HG21 last week. Really nice camera. I plan on doing some freelance news work with it.

Anyhow, I've found that the bundled software isn't really worth it, unless you are uncomfortable with computers. It's easily replaced with a better program like RipBot264.

What the Imagemixer software will do for you is give you a GUI for transferring files from the HG21's HDD to your computer (which you can do manually).

It also allows you to convert .mt2s files, but it only converts to a standard def format, which makes no sense to me. RipBot allows you to convert .mt2s files into several different file types, at multiple resolutions and framerates.
