i am using tmpgenc and i am encoding a movie to be placed on 2 cds. I am using 2 pass vbr, 1910 as my average bitrate and 2496 as my max. I am using the source range option to split this divx into 2 mpegs. The first half of the movie worked great, it took a very long time but it is now on svcd and looks great on my television. The problem is the second part, i changed the start point to half the movie and the ending point at the end. But, when i hit start, it will continue to progress as far as the percentage done, but the source position stays at zero and no file is being created. I figured this ecause when i hit stop when the percentage was up to like 30 percent there was no file to show for it. Ive tried multiple times, ive reinstalled tmpengc(the latest), nothing seems to work. It works fine at cbr though, but i want to use vbr. I have to get the second part of this movie and i don't understand why the first cd would work but not the second.

2 pass VBR does just that. The first pass however is used to analyze required bitrates and the 2nd pass starts to encode. Therefore you won't have any encoding occuring until it is at 50%. Once at this point, you will see frames displayed on screen and actual files start being written. Be patient.
